 Dr. Brent Dunlap

Dr. Brent Dunlap is the owner of Drs. Long & Dunlap.  He is a board certified optometrist practicing comprehensive primary eye care in Bourbonnais, IL.  He started his career as a full-time associate with Dr. Long in 2001 before purchasing the practice in 2004.

Dr. Dunlap graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in 2001.  While at ICO he received training in all aspects of modern vision care through the Illinois Eye Institute.  Clinical education included primary care, advanced care, low vision, pediatrics/binocular vision, and contact lenses. 

As a fourth year student expanded skills were learned in an externship program.  He spent time in Baltimore, MD at Omni Eye Care Specialists, a high volume disease and surgical referral center.  He also worked at the VA Hospital in Huntington, WV for 3 months treating and managing eye disease.  Back in Chicago he was educated at the Lighthouse for the Blind, Diecke Low Vision Center at the University of Chicago, and the University of Chicago Children’s Vision Department.

His undergraduate studies were completed at Central College in Pella, IA where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in pre-optometry.  He was a national qualifier, Academic All-American, and captain of the Dutch wrestling team.

Dr. Dunlap is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association.  Community involvement includes participation in the Kankakee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Kankakee.  Dr. Dunlap’s wife, Jill, is also an optometrist and mother to their four children, Owen, Brenna, and twins Moira and Maggie.

 

 


 

Dr. Lisa Jeziorny is a board certified primary care optometrist. Dr. Jeziorny joined the team at Drs. Long & Dunlap in December of 2011. She is a member of the American and Illinois Optometric Associations. 

Dr. Jeziorny graduated with honors from Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the International Optometric honor society.  While at ICO, Dr. J received training in all aspects of vision care at the Illinois Eye Institute.  Her clinical education included primary care, advanced care, low vision, pediatrics/binocular vision, and contact lens.  During her fourth year at ICO, Dr. Jeziorny also gained experience at off-site clinics like The Lighthouse for the Blind and The University of Chicago in the pediatric ophthalmology department.  

 Prior to graduate school, Dr. Jeziorny attended Lake Forest College and earned at Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, while also participating in collegiate athletics as a three-time softball conference champion and an All-American handball player.  It was during her tenure at Lake Forest that Dr,. Jeziorny discovered her passion for vision and eye care.  

Dr. Jeziorny was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and currently resides in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

Vickie Culkin

 

Vickie has worked at Drs. Long & Dunlap since 1979.  She had 5 years of experience in eye care prior to that at Dr. James Gaddis office in Pontiac, IL.  Vickie is the dispensing optician for Drs. Long & Dunlap.

Vickie is primarily responsible for assisting patients with frame selection, explaining new and useful lens options, placing orders for glasses, tracking their progress and checking, fitting and adjusting new eyewear for patients. Vickie is an expert at repairing and realigning eyeglasses.  Other patient care responsibilities include contact lens training for new wearers.

 Sharon Perkins, CPO

 

 A fixture with Drs. Long & Dunlap since 1973, Sharon’s responsibilities include bookkeeping and overseeing the office operations. She is a Certified Paraoptometric  and also assists the optical department ordering glasses & contacts as well as  dispensing and adjustments. Sharon enjoys looking after her dogs.

Mari Kerouac, CPO

 

Mari has been employed at Drs. Long & Dunlap since 2005 and in the eyecare field since 1999. She  is a Certified Paraoptometric and assists patients with appointments by phone and in person. Her welcoming smile greets patients as they enter the office. She assists them in registering and collects important health data including vision and health insurance information. She performs patient pre-testing for the doctors.  Mari is also responsible for patient billing and helps to submit health and vision care claims to insurance for reimbursement. Mari resides in Bradley with her husband, Adam.

 Crystal Busse, CPO

Crystal joined our staff in 2007 as an Optometric Assistant and quickly became a Certified Paraoptometic. She competently operates many of the instruments used in eye and vision testing. Crystal assists in ordering glasses & contacts as well as dispensing & helping patients with adjustments when needed. She is responsible for answering the phone & scheduling patient appointments. Crystal is also responsible for handling the vision claims and posting insurance payments.  Crystal lives in St. Anne with her husband, Dallas and daughter Paisley.

Dr. Joseph Long retired after 37 years in December of 2011.  He had practiced optometry in the Kankakee area since 1974.  He bought the practice from Dr. Russell Rogers and successfully expanded the scope and quality of care for 30 years.
